The America's Promise Alliance (APA) is a well-respected national organization that works to provide America's children with 5 essential promises through the alliance of powerful youth-serving organizations. The 5 Promises include:
As part of their "A Healthy Start" promise, APA has developed an "All Kids Covered" initiative which aims to enroll the millions of uninsured but eligible children in our country into available insurance programs. This goal cannot be met by the medical community alone; it requires the outreach, education and awareness-raising efforts of youth-serving organizations which often have the most contact with our communities' children and parents.
SHIP Outreach Education
To help educate the staff working in settings with youth (Schools, Afterschool &
Camp programs, Youth Groups, Church Groups, etc.), APA is working with SIM to
develop an online training covering the basic questions about Medicaid and SCHIP
eligibility and enrollment that individuals need answered in order to engage in
effective outreach efforts within their communities.
